I-94 Reopens Following Early Morning Crash Near Ann Arbor

DEXTER (WWJ) - Authorities have reopened a portion of I-94 following a serious crash that caused backups for commuters heading out of Ann Arbor.

The accident happened early Thursday morning on eastbound I-94 between Baker and Zeeb roads, just west of the city.

Authorities say a semi-truck left the pavement and crashed into a clump of trees off the side of the road. Reports indicate the truck may have landed on top of another vehicle.

Rescue crews struggled to reach one person who was trapped inside their vehicle. Once freed, that motorist was rushed to the hospital in a survival flight helicopter. Their current condition is unknown.

Other circumstances surrounding the crash remain unknown.

The freeway was closed for several hours as police investigate the crash, but has since reopened.
