Legislation introduced in the state Senate would protect welfare recipients from having to provide paternity information in cases where the child was conceived because of rape. The legislation stems from a case in the Thumb region where a judge granted joint custody to a sex offender. The election for Michigan governor is one year away, and while there are several candidates who are running, there is one name that is still garnering a lot of attention. A new Target Insyght polling conducted for MIRS over the last week shows Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan beating Republican gubernatorial frontrunner Attorney General Bill Schuette. The mayor has said over and over he is not interested in running for Governor. Pollster Ed Sarpolis from Target Insyght joined Jackie Paige in Lansing this morning
