The two-day indoor/outdoor Annual Royal Oak Garage Sale will take place in the parking structure on Center Street between Second and Third Streets. Shoppers will be able to find just about anything they can think of with over 200 vendors selling everything from antiques, jewelry, knick knacks and vintage items to sports memorabilia, toys and clothing. Back this year will be the downtown sidewalk sale with all kinds of different items for sale with merchandise at up to 60 to 70 percent off.

Buying unique items at this garage sale, which is considered one of the largest in the Metro Detroit area, is also a great way to get that one-of-a-kind homemade piece of jewelry, craft or amazing piece of artwork at a bargain price. Talented people from all over the Metro Detroit area come together each year to show off the talent they have to make affordable items that buyers can give as presents to family and friends on their birthdays, Christmas and other special occasions.

Shoppers who work up an appetite during all that bargain shopping won't be disappointed. Part of the fun will be picking from the variety of food vendors that will feed the thousands of people expected to be there. Some of the food vendors committed to being at the garage sale will be Ned's Travel Burger, Motor City Franks, gourmet licorice, Joe Italian Catering and hot caramel kettle corn. There are also spaces still available if you would like to be a last-minute vendor after cleaning out those attics, basements, closets and cabinets during spring cleaning.

"We're trying to track down Royal Oak residents or other local vendors who are interested in selling their stuff at such a well-attended, established event," Jennifer Clark, the Director of Events for the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce said. "We are returning the event to it's roots this year." Clark explained what she means by "returning the event to its roots," saying this year the annual garage sale will be back at the Center Street Garage which means there will be much more room for more vendors that will create additional foot traffic helping to improve this year's attendance.

Working towards getting as many people as possible to turn out for this event is important at the annual garage sale since it is the biggest and most profitable event of the year for the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce who created the garage sale 38 years ago. It established this event as a way for community members to make some money of their own as vendors and also to bring the diversified culture of the people of Metro Detroit together for some fun and to help to offset the chamber's operating costs all at the same time.

If interested in being a last-minute vendor, please contact Jennifer at the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce at (248) 547-4000 for more information.
