Born and raised in one of the nation’s most important cities, Detroit, Dan Leach has always had a very deep connection to the city and teams he grew up loving and rooting for. Even while working in TV and Radio away from the Motor City, his love for his hometown and its great teams never wavered. Rumors of him coming out of the womb signing “Forward Down The Field” lead to epic trips to Lions and Michigan football games with his grandpa and father starting at age two. There his bond and love of sports was born.
A graduate and classmate of Charlie Batch and Earl Boykins at Eastern Michigan University , he was often seen cracking Boykins up as he diagramed plays in one of the greatest college courses ever assembled, “Theory of Basketball 101.” Dan then was lucky enough to be baptized in broadcasting as an intern with Dan “Touchdown Detroit Lions” Miller at Fox 2. Stops in Costa Rica (some of the most beautiful women in the world), Atlanta, and Florida followed.
He comes back home to join 97.1 The Ticket after hosting nationally syndicated shows on Sports Byline USA and Sirius Satellite Radio. Dan has also called football and basketball play-by-play on radio and TV, most recently on the NAFL game of the week on CAMTV.
An avid hot air balloon enthusiast, huge Pearl Jam fan, and always willing to look at both sides of an argument or story, Dan could not be happier to be joining the great team at 97.1 The Ticket. He looks forward to sparking hearty debate, entertaining the great people of Michigan, and making the world a better place one listener at a time.
Oscar Sunday is always one of my favorite nights of the year and has become an annual rite of passage!
What is the greatest championship team in Detroit history?
Well, we learned a bunch of things as the final gun sounded in the crisp clean air of Seattle and the Super Bowl 48 match-up became set two weeks ago.
Of course the game itself is what it’s all about, but the real fun is throwing cash all over the place on prop bets that range from the normal to the insane.
Ohhhhh boy!! We’ll we learned a bunch of things as the final gun sounded in the crisp clean air of Seattle and the Super Bowl 48 match-up became set.
This is where it gets serious as Conference Championship Sunday comes straight at ya. Who will make it the first cold weather outdoor Super Bowl at the new Met-O-Lands on February 2.
We have already had a rousing start to the 2014 NFL Playoffs where it seemed like an upset when the home team actually won in Indy,
Here is how I see the NFC playoffs shaping up – complete with the current Vegas odds.
Many Detroit Lions fans hearts are broken, but there is still football to be played and there is no better cure for a football hangover, than more football.
Week 17 could not have any more story lines or any more possible playoff in or out scenarios. In one word #epic … and away we go!
