I’m a Michigan native with a long resume of radio experience beginning back in 1972 with on-air and sales work at stations in Ludington, Holland and Muskegon I was at WOOD AM/FM FROM 1978 to 2001. Besides being News Director there… I was also the Program Director along with being a talk show host. I also was the play-by-play voice of the Michigan White Caps before landing at WXYT in 2001.
At CBS stations 1270 XYT The Sports Station and WWJ Newsradio 950 in Detroit, I’ve held such positions as WXYT program director, afternoon drive sports anchor for WWJ and WXYT and co-host of “Inside Tigertown” with Dan Dickerson.
I currently work as overnight anchor for WWJ Newsradio 950.

I’ve just gotten back from vacation and maybe I should leave town again. While lying in the sun for a week, the Tigers were burning up the American League. Many fans had written the team off in June…but 2 out hits and good starting pitching have turned the ship around.

If you think the month of June was hot in metro Detroit — you’re right. Through Saturday, Detroit has seen eleven 90-degree days.
I was listening to Mike Valente on “The Ticket” recently and he said something that seemed to put this year’s Tigers team in persepective. They aren’t bad enough to say this season as been a disaster so far..nor have they been good enough to say they seem to be on their way.
They are called the “Senior Circuit.” The name is derived from the length of time the National League has been in existence. For the Tigers the interleague play has meant the difference from good season to a mediocre one.
A Warren man is facing charges, including attempted murder, after an argument between two families erupted in gunfire earlier this week.
The Detroit Public Schools district has lost millions of dollars in state aid after attendance fell below 75 percent on 10 days during the 2010-11 school year.
The Tigers limped into Cincinnati having to play 3 games in a “launching pad” of a ballpark. But instead of just lying down when they got behind, the Bengals ground out 2 impressive wins to take the series. I hope we can look back at the series as the turning point in the season.
