The Macomb County Sheriff’s Department dispatch center can now accept 911 text messages.
The 63rd St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade will feature veterans, military vehicles, school groups, a beam from the World Trade Center and “Rudy” Ruettiger.

The text-to-911 service works like any text conversation, with the 911 operator using a web browser to respond within seconds.

A year ago the average response time was 20 minutes. Duggan’s office says it’s now down to about 11 minutes.
