This Christmas travel season in Michigan is expected to be slightly busier than last year’s.
The website DetroitGasPrices.com says average retail gas prices are averaging $3.42 per gallon in Detroit.
AAA Michigan says prices at the pump have fallen approximately 14 cents during the past week to a statewide average of about $3.77 per gallon.
The average price for a gallon of gas in Michigan is 3.1 cents higher this week than it was last week.
For the first time in AAA Michigan’s nearly 100-year history, it is painting its classic red, white and blue tow trucks the color pink in order to raise awareness of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
AAA Michigan reports that the average price of gas statewide is $3.879 per gallon. The average price dipped 2.2 cents this week, following last week’s nearly 11-cent decline.

AAA Michigan is projecting that residents will be traveling a greater distance – almost 150 miles more than in 2011.
