Wayne State Prof Goes Public Over Pet Coke Concern

Mountains of petroleum coke — a byproduct of oil refining from tar sands in Alberta, Canada — have drawn public concern from politicians, environmental experts, community activists, business owners and residents in the southwest Detroit neighborhood where the black mounds have been deposited along the riverfront since late fall.

DTE Energy Part Of New Pipeline For Shale Gas

The Detroit utility holding company DTE Energy, Calgary, Alberta-based Enbridge Inc. and Houston, Texas-based Spectra Energy Corp. (NYSE: SE) Monday announced a partnership to develop a new pipeline to move growing supplies of natural gas developed from Utica shale formations in Ohio to markets in the Midwest, including Ohio, Michigan and Ontario.
