Wayne State Researcher Part Of National Effort To Control Antibiotic Use

Because infectious microorganisms are becoming increasingly resistant to antibiotics, a Wayne State University researcher has joined a nationwide effort to monitor that resistance while optimizing the use of existing drugs.

Researchers at Wayne State University and Henry Ford Health System who have identified antibiotic-resistant strains of the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) — known as MRSA — in meat and poultry for sale in Metro Detroit grocery stores.
