Police arrived on the scene after receiving a 911 call and found the man’s body slumped over on the front porch of the building.
The 51-year-old man’s body was badly decomposed and hidden in a closet for two to three weeks, a police detective testified.
Police say the woman had multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of death was “homicide due to multiple sharp injuries,” according to an autopsy report.
The body was found floating in shallow water not too far from the Grosse Pointe Shores Yacht Club.
The infant’s remains were found Sunday night by a man who was doing yard work.
“This is obviously very disturbing to us,” said Clay Township police Chief Don Drake.
Police said the remains were so decomposed, it appears the 63-year-old man could have been dead inside the portable toilet for about five months.
An arrest has been made in connection with a Detroit mother’s murder earlier this week.
Authorities say a 31-year-old Detroit woman whose body was found near her dehydrated 8-month-old daughter was stabbed to death.
