A Detroit man caught on videotape being punched and kicked by police during his arrest for carjacking, robbery and other charges has been convicted at trial.
Police are searching for a group of men who targeted two different drivers on Detroit freeways in an attempt to steal their cars.
Police have recovered the stolen vehicle, but found no traces of the suspect.
The vehicle has since been recovered but police are still searching for the suspect.
The prosecutor’s office in April said there would be no charges against the officers.
James Meeks was arraigned Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery and two incidents of carjacking.
According to police – the woman was legally carrying a gun and fired a shot at the would-be carjacker.
The man, who was driving a Ford Mustang, was killed as he tried to run away from the suspects.
The incident took place at a gas station near Gratiot and St. Aubin early Monday morning where the driver of a black Mustang GT was fatally shot.
