A 16-year-old driver is facing multiple charges after leading police on a chase that ended when he crashed into the Clinton River and tried to swim away to avoid capture.
Health officials say it’s now safe to swim in the Clinton River.
The Environmental Protection Agency is on the scene, coordinating cleanup and investigating the possible source.
Investigators have determined that the unknown source is somewhere in the city of Pontiac where the Clinton River is covered.
While there is a flood watch issued for Metro Detroit until 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening, a Flood warning has been issued for Clinton Township and the Clinton River until further notice.
“We are concerned and we’re going to be monitoring it,” said the Macomb County Exec.
Searchers found Oliver Dixon’s kayak underneath Clinton River a log jam over the weekend.
Forty-seven year old Oliver Dixon III, a father of three, went missing on Thursday, according to family.

A flood watch remains in effect for all of southeast Michigan, and a warning was issued for some areas.
