MTU: Trees Finding The Nitrogen They Need Even When CO2 Is SupersizedA 10-year study that intentionally exposed trees to higher levels of carbon dioxide and ozone found that the trees managed to scrounge enough nitrogen to use the additional CO2 -- without causing nitrogen levels in the soil to fall. Instead, leaf litter and other organic matter decomposed more quickly, making more nitrogen available.
