The department is looking for about forty drivers in all and spokesperson Craig Bryson says everyone is gearing up for what the weather service tells them will be a slightly colder than normal winter ahead.
Southbound Greenfield Road, from just north of 9 Mile Road down to 8 Mile Road, will be completely closed for construction.
Authorities are advising motorists to leave early and give yourself extra time to get to your destination … and be sure to give the snow plows and salt trucks room to do their jobs.
Spokesman Craig Bryson says when it snows, they try to push the white stuff back as close to the mailboxes as they can so that the post office can deliver mail.
The metro Detroit area got a few inches of slushy snow and that has made the drive slower than usual.
It’s a slippery drive in much of northern Oakland County today, as ice covers many of the gravel roads in that area. As a result, dozens of schools are closed on Monday.
The snow and ice are causing some pretty bad road conditions for drivers and the salt trucks and plows are out across Metro Detroit to clear the roads.
Metro Detroiters may see another 1-2 inches of new snow through Monday morning.
