Cross Winds Energy Park
Consumers Energy, its contractors, Tuscola County-area landowners and local government officials held a groundbreaking event Friday to officially start construction of the company’s second wind park, called the Cross Winds Energy Park.
Consumers Energy says it has signed a contract with Southfield-based Barton Malow Co. for engineering, procurement and construction services at its $255 million Cross Winds Energy Park, a 105-megawatt wind farm in Tuscola County. The contract is subject to approval by the Michigan Public Service Commission.
Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest supplier of renewable energy and will soon be adding more to serve its customers. The company Thursday announced it had signed a contract with GE to supply 62 more wind turbine generators for the Cross Winds Energy Park in Tuscola County.
Consumers Energy has opened a development office in Caro as it moves forward with its Cross Winds Energy Park.
Jackson-based Consumers Energy has updated its renewable energy plan to reflect the latest market conditions and proposes lowering costs for electric customers by about $55 million per year. The utility has filed its updated plan for review by the Michigan Public Service Commission.
