Detroit plans to sell seven unused firehouses and a renovated but long-vacant police facility that once housed horses as part of an effort to raise money and encourage redevelopment.
Community members say there has been a rash of fires recently and they will fight to keep this essential service.
“It’s a great Detroit story about an old architectural icon in Detroit being repurposed for a wonderful new charter,” Koelsch said.
