Detroit residents have begun patrolling their neighborhoods as part of an effort to help prevent arson over the three-day Halloween period.
The fire has engulfed a building reported to be abandoned at the I-94 service drive and Ogden near Lonyo.
It was a busy scene on Detroit’s east side Monday morning, where firefighters battled several suspected arson fires at empty apartment buildings.
City officials say preliminary reports show 29 occupied homes were among 71 structures that burned during a series of wind-fed fires that struck a number of Detroit neighborhoods.
