It’s being reported the Sabres are opening their wallet to Babcock, reportedly offering him in the range of $5 million per season.
In an interview Friday with TSN, Babcock said the decision could come as early as Wednesday.
“Bridges are kind of big and powerful like my dad, so it’s kind of fitting in that way,” Gordie Howe’s son Murray said in a phone interview.
Babcock has been linked to numerous teams and reportedly has met with several, and the process is expected to continue in Prague.

According to Nick Kypreos of SportsNet, Babcock met with the Toronto Maple Leafs over the weekend to discuss their open head coach position.
Detroit held exclusive negotiating rights with Babcock through June, but Holland said he and Babcock will not let the process drag out.

“We’re only going to get better,” Holland said. “One of the ways we’re going to get better is our players are going to compete.”
“The worst day I’ve had in coaching in Detroit, period, in my 10 years here, was yesterday, bar none,” Babcock added.
