Skaters Test ‘Synthetic’ Ice Surface On Site Of New Red Wings Arena

Sitting in the space where the ice rink is planned to go in the new arena — scheduled to open in 2017 — is a synthetic ice surface which will give fans a chance to experience the Ilitches’ vision for the site.

Red Wings Hold Off Blackhawks 3-2

Andrej Nestrasil and Tomas Nosek each had a goal and an assist and the Detroit Red Wings held off the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in an exhibition game Thursday night.
