The Detroit Zoo is going to the birds — more specially penguins — as Ron Kagan talked about a new penguin exhibit they are building that will opened by 2015.
Eight puppies removed from the home of two dogs that fatally mauled a Michigan jogger will be sterilized and taken to a Texas shelter.
“I was a bit afraid at first,” he said. “They kind of drill into our heads in the mail academy that a dog is a mailman’s enemy.”
The dogs have been in custody along with eight puppies, which will be offered to an animal rescue group.
A U.S. Department of Agriculture employee spent nearly two weeks tracking the dogs.
A Michigan woman who had about 90 dogs and puppies removed from her farm has been sentenced to five years of probation on an animal cruelty charge.
Ribbon is at the Michigan Humane Society, hoping her forever family comes by to scoop her up.
The sheriff’s department says the pack is believed to include seven to 12 dogs, at least two of which are adults.
She couldn’t eat and could barely breathe, but a lucky dog’s tail is once again wagging after a rescue in Detroit.
“It’s festive, it’s a relaxed day, it’s a heart-opening day,” said Village Green Director of Public Relations Roger Tertocha. “We’re all attached to our pets, this is a chance to share more of your life with your co-workers.”
