GM earns $1.5 billion dollars. North America leads. Europe losses mount.
Third quarter profit is $381 million.
The Detroit-based utility holding company DTE Energy Wednesday reported third quarter 2012 earnings of $227 million, or $1.31 a share, up from $183 million, or $1.07 a share, in the same quarter of 2011.
The Dow Chemical Co. will eliminate about 2,400 jobs and close roughly 20 manufacturing plants as part of a restructuring aimed at coping with slowing economic growth in Europe and elsewhere. Dow Tuesday reported sharply lower sales and profits for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, blaming slowdowns in Europe and China.
Compuware Corp.’s revenue and profit both plunged in the second fiscal quarter ended Sept. 30.
The utilty holding company DTE Energy reported second quarter 2012 earnings of $146 million, or 86 cents a share, down from $202 million, or $1.19 a share, in the same quarter of 2011.
Ford’s profit fell 57 percent in the second quarter as losses in Europe and Asia swamped a healthy performance in North America.
Ford is reporting that its net income fell by nearly half in the first quarter, as European sales plummeted and the company paid higher taxes.
