hit and run
Authorities say Kamari was struck May 19 while standing near an ice cream truck on Detroit’s west side and died Monday at Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
Kamari Smith was just trying to get some ice cream when she was struck by a driver who then fled the scene.
After the collision, the 30-year-old man stopped and got out of his vehicle, saw what had happened and then took off running on foot, police said.
Police say Kamari Smith was crossing the street to buy ice cream when she was hit.
Police say a 25-year-old woman was riding her bike home from work when she was killed by a hit-and-run driver, who was later arrested.
Officers then realized the driver’s 5-year-old child was in the back seat, along with empty liquor bottles, a marijuana pipe and marijuana.
The incident was one of three hit-and-run accidents reported on Monday.
A witness said a little girl was on her way to buy ice cream when she was critically hurt in an hit-and-run accident on Detroit’s west side.
State police are investigating after a body was found on the side of a busy freeway Monday morning.
Police say the woman was driving a gray 4-door sedan, possibly a Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Am.
