A major accident caused traffic backups on I-696 in Royal Oak for about an hour Thursday morning.
Reports say some motorists were “hysterical” after hitting the pedestrian, who has not yet been identified.
Sources tell WWJ the incident involves a pedestrian who apparently jumped to their death from an overpass.
“The box truck left the freeway, jumped the guardrail and ended up on its side down in the ditch.”
As troopers were making their way to the area, police started receiving more calls that a car had struck another vehicle head-on at westbound I-696 and Coolidge Highway.
“So far we’re still probably, kind of at the same point where were last night,” Lt. Mike Shaw said.
A Michigan State Police trooper suffered minor injuries in three-car accident Tuesday morning.
Michigan State Police say alcohol and fatigue may have played a part in the accident.
