A fatal accident on I-75 near the border of Monroe and Wayne counties is caused an hours-long, multi-mile backup Friday morning.
“So far we’re still probably, kind of at the same point where were last night,” Lt. Mike Shaw said.
One man is dead and a 17-year-old is in custody after a high-speed police chase in a stolen vehicle ended in a rollover crash on I-75, according to police.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area.
Police say the evacuation was “precautionary,” but could not disclose the reason behind it.
Authorities say the semi-truck rolled into a ditch after the driver somehow lost control.
The accident happened Tuesday evening in the freeway’s southbound lanes.
According Michigan State Police, the accident happened around 9:30 a.m. on the southbound lanes near Dunbar Road.
People calling WWJ Monday morning had a list of pothole problem areas including: the Lodge Freeway service drive near Eight Mile, I-96 eastbound near Livernois, Hannan Road over I-275.
According to police, the semi-truck’s trailer detached and broke open, spilling hundreds of thin aluminum sheets onto the roadway.
