The Montreal Alouettes released Arland Bruce on Wednesday, two weeks after the receiver was fined by the Canadian Football League for Twitter comments about openly gay NFL prospect Michael Sam.
While the league could not immediately be reached for comment, NFL Player’s Association executive George Atallah said the banishment of the n-word and the f-word are being discussed.
If Sam was a first round talent, somehow swapped games and body with Jadeveon Clowney, I believe this would be a non-issue. Talent almost always trumps other factors in the NFL.
The NFL locker room has long been an unforgiving place.
Missouri All-American Michael Sam came out to the nation on Sunday night and could become the NFL’s first openly gay player.
Michael Sam should be commended because he raised his hand to be the first gay NFL player who will be “out” for his entire career.
