Michigan’s biotech industry could get a boost from the federal 2012 Farm Bill, under new initiatives announced Wednesday by Sen. Debbie Stabenow and state biotech leaders at the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Mackinac Policy Conference.
MichBio, the biosciences industry association in Michigan, announced today that it is visiting Capitol Hill Monday and Tuesday. The primary agenda item will be the pending User Fee reauthorizations — Prescription Drug User Fee Act and Medical Device User Fee Act (MDUFA) — as well as the new Generic Drug User Fee Act and Biologics and Interchangeable Products User Fee Act.

MichBio, the state’s life sciences industry association, announced Monday that it would join with the Michigan Economic Development Corp. and the New Economy Initiative for Southeast Michgian to host the “Michigan Bio-Talent Summit,” an event to bring bio executives together with educators, work force development professionals and other key stakeholders to discuss bioscience talent needs.

MichBio, the biosciences industry association in Michigan, announced that it will visit Capitol Hill next week alongside other state bioscience and med-tech associations. On the agenda will be a number of significant medical technology industry-related issues such as the medical device tax, FDA user fees and others.
MichBio announced that it has formed a Medical Devices, Technology & Manufacturing Committee to enhance its representation and resource capacity for this important biosciences industry sector.
