Five UP Tech Companies Band Together For Defense Work

A new collaboration of five Upper Peninsula manufacturing technology companies, along with the Houghton tech business accelerator MTEC SmartZone and Michigan Technological University, is pitching its expertise to the aerospace and defense industries.

Nineteen female high school students who are fascinated by computer science are spent last week at Michigan Technological University, exploring this fast-moving field. Girls from as far away as Delaware won scholarships to participate in Michigan Tech’s Women in Computer Science summer program.

State Grant Advances UP Firm’s High Tech Bridge Inspection Gear

Talon Research Inc. said Thursday it had received a Business Accelerator Fund grant of $44,000, which will be used to incorporate technology that complements its increasingly popular BridgeGuard infrared highway inspection equipment.

MTEC SmartZone – Finlandia Entrepreneur Support Center Honored In D.C.

ESC’s high-tech facility features business-grade computer and telecommunications equipment along with professional business consultants. In just over a year, more than 60 entrepreneurs received services and 32 LLCs have been filed.
