New Economy Initiative for Southeast Michigan
When Armando Doku celebrates the grand opening of Avaneer Dental Studio on Sept. 26, he’ll mark the cumulation of a decade-long journey acquiring the education and expertise necessary to launch a successful dental laboratory.
Supported by a $428,000 grant from the New Economy Initiative for Southeast Michigan, Macomb Community College has kicked off a regional initiative designed to advance the development of the defense sector in the region.
According to a study led by the Kauffman Foundation, the Business Accelerator Network for Southeast Michigan – the group of the region’s four key business accelerators, Ann Arbor Spark, Automation Alley, the Macomb-OU Incubator and TechTown — have created more than 1,000 jobs and invested approximately $18 million in hundreds of start-up companies while securing more than $101.2 million in additional capital, a 6-to-1 investment ratio.
