Most Metro Detroit motorists hitting the road this weekend have probably noticed that gas prices have jumped on average about 30-cents per gallon overnight.
Detroit residents are calling for an emergency evacuation plan nearly a week after an explosion at an oil refinery on the city’s southwest side.
Marathon Detroit Refinery told WWJ that they were trying to get the situation under control but could not comment further.
Marathon Oil is getting more takers for their offer to buy neighboring homes in southwest Detroit to make more for a refinery expansion.
A spokesman said there was a small fire in the plant, on Fort Street near Schaefer, in southwest Detroit.
