A Kalamazoo County Circuit Court jury on Monday convicted 18-year-old Rashad Perez of second-degree murder and firearms charges in the May 26 shotgun death of 13-year-old Michael Day.
Police said young man and woman have been arrested but investigators believe there are four more suspects.
Police say between 10 and 12 shots were fired Tuesday in Parkridge Park near Perry Early Education Center and that officers arrested a 19-year-old Ypsilanti Township man who fled on foot.
The couple told authorities they were shooting targets and were unaware they hit anyone.
Police found out about the incident an hour later when doctors called to say they were treating several patients for gunshot wounds.
According witnesses, the 65-year old man shot the suspect after he woke up to use the bathroom and found the stranger strangling his dog.
A 21-year-old man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he accidentally shot an acquaintance in the back in a moving vehicle.
The suspect is a black male, about six feet tall, and 190 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detroit Police.
