A teen was taken to a local hospital after getting shot in the leg, late Monday afternoon, on the city’s west side.
Police are searching for at least two men who were apparently involved in a gun battle in northern Detroit.
The suspects are described as African-American males, approximately 18- to 20-years old.
A 43-year-old woman and her 6-year-old son were not injured in the shooting that left bullet holes in the side of the house.
A Detroit homeowner who shot and seriously wounded an alleged intruder in her yard remains in police custody, although the reason is not clear.
The 20-year-old ex-convict told the judge that he went to the apartment “to rob the victim, pulled a gun out and got into an altercation and the gun started going off.”
The FBI says it appears to have been an attempted robbery and not related to his work as a judge.
“I heard a gunshot and my husband yelling and that sort of thing, yelling for help,” she said.
A maintenance man was changing the locks when the ex-boyfriend showed up with a gun, according to police.
Witnesses said the altercation started over broken glass in the roadway at a mobile home park in St. Clair County.
