White Sox manager Robin Ventura is taking with Detroit Tigers skipper Brad Ausmus for accusing ace Chris Sale of throwing at Victor Martinez.
“It’s a little weak that they would hit him,” Ausmus said. “If they injure Victor there and we’re in the playoff hunt, that’s bad news.”
With Cabrera dealing with an ankle injury, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus announced Thursday that the team will rotate Cabrera and usual designated hitter Victor Martinez at first base.
In 31 games last month, Martinez batted .350 with a .442 on-base percentage as he racked up 41 hits and 19 walks.
Martinez has been with the Tigers since coming over from the Red Sox in 2011, but missed the entire 2012 season with a torn ACL.

“It bothers me because people think that we’re playing Little League teams out there,” Martinez said.
