The Meridian Winter Blast opened Friday for three days of winter events, food and music at Campus Martius in downtown Detroit.
There will be free snowshoeing, an ice garden, dogsled demonstrations, heated tents, an outdoor carnival, skating exhibitions and live music.
The Meridian Winter Blast is set to kickoff this weekend in Downtown Detroit and organizers hope to provide some relief from the winter blues and cabin fever.
Downtown Detroit’s annual winter festival will return in 2014, with a new name.
Winter Blast returns to Detroit in 2013 for its eighth year. Head downtown for the annual celebration of all things winter and all things Detroit.
The full line up of festivities includes snow shoeing, dog sledding, marshmallow roasting, and more.
The 8th Annual Motown Winter Blast is already underway and many are making it into Downtown Detroit to enjoy the fun.

Attendance is already up at Motown Winter Blast this year by about 30 percent. That’s according to producer Jon Witz who says they’ve had about 60,000 people come through the event so far.
