Best Bars Near Comerica Park To Take In Opening Day

It's opening day! However, baseball tickets are expensive. You still want to celebrate and be a part of the action, though, so you'll head to a downtown bar or one in metro Detroit. Check this list for the best bars near Comerica Park to watch the first game of the season.

The bar also carries craft beers and beers from Michigan breweries, such as Motor City Brewing Works, Shorts Brewing Company, New Holland, and more. Park Bar's main bar is circular, and has large TVs around it. The bar is also located a stone's throw away from Comerica Park.

You can choose to sit downstairs in the dining area (which also serves alcohol) or go to the bar upstairs. Cheli's is owned by former Detroit Red Wings player Chris Chelios, and it has 36 flatscreen TVs for you to watch the Tigers on; it also offers shuttles to Joe Louis if you ever wanted to take in a Red Wings game.

It's an Art Deco diner, and was built in 1936 by Charles Noble; its original location was close to the old Tiger Stadium. In 1997, it was moved by its owner, Chuck Forbes, to 300 Adams Avenue, to be closer to Comerica Park. It then underwent a renovation, and its Art Deco interior and facade were remodeled. It has a ton of sports memorabilia, and more than twenty 63-inch plasma TVs. Parking can be found in the Fox Theatre's garage, between Woodward and Park, and prices vary. The cafe also offers a 3rd floor patio, for when the weather warms up later in the season.

www.thetownpumptavern.comThe Town Pump Tavern is a great place to grab a drink during a Tigers game - it's close to Comerica, Ford Field, the Fox Theater and the Fillmore. It features tin ceilings and wood walls, has 18 beers on tap, as well as a kitchen that is open until 11 p.m. every night. Town Pump also features live music after home Tigers games, and a happy hour which includes $1 off well drinks and pints.
