Best Dog Runs In Detroit

When Muffins is chasing her tail out of sheer boredom, and General can't stand to be cooped up any longer- take them to the place doggie dreams are made of… a dog run! Here is the place where Lola can run wild and socialize- so can you. Most are located outside of the Detroit City limits, and require registration before Mr. Waffles can mark his territory. Runs with fees do come with some perks, including fenced-in runs, doggie bags and fresh water. Swift Run Dog Park features a generous fenced-in area, separated into two runs that cater to dogs of different sizes. This permit-only park welcomes both Ann Arbor dog-owners and non-residents, too. The park requires all visitors to register using this form. A $50 fee must be paid in advance before access into the park is granted. Dogs will adore wading through puddles in the spring and palling around with their canine friends all year 'round. There's a shaded area with benches for "parents" to use as they watch their "kids" chase each other. Toys are allowed at this park, so frisbees, tennis balls and that raggedy thing your dog insists on bringing everywhere are a go!

Paw Run Recreation Park is 18 acres of unbridled nature. This unique place close to Ann Arbor has everything a dog could possible want- lots of space to run around in an enclosed environment. This is an exclusive run located in a private recreation area. Aside from fields that dogs love to explore, this run also includes ponds and trails. This experience is quite an adventure Special amenities include agility equipment, trails and benches for the pooch's parents. The Canton Dog Park features six acres of fenced-in space for dogs of all breeds to enjoy. There's a special section for larger dogs weighing over 20 pounds, while pups under 20 pounds can frolic in a separate area. Canton residents and non-residents alike are invited to use the park provided all dogs have the necessary license and vaccinations. Leashes aren't required, but a membership to enter the premises is. Dog owners can purchase an annual membership, then after you're all set, you will receive a key card in order to access the site.

The Red Oaks Dog Park is 5.2 acres of enclosed grassy space. Dogs and their owners all love to socialize at this popular spot. There's plenty of  room for dogs to romp, broken into four separate spaces for running and play, including one specifically intended for smaller pooches. Special conveniences include water available for the pups, and a nice supply of pet waste bags. An annual pass is required since the property is located within the Oakland County Parks system.
