Is trick-or-treat getting a little Hallow-ho-hum for you? If you crave something really different--something weirdly wonderfully wicked, then hitch your broomstick on over to Detroit. "Evil Dead: The Musical" runs Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, October 1-31 at the City Theatre. Shows start at 8 pm and are $30 for general admission. This bloody hilarious show is based on Detroit native Sam Raimi's 80s cult classic horror films. On a campout in the woods, a boy is pursued through a kaleidoscope of funny musical frights. Memorable songs include "What the F&%* Was That?" and "Do the Necronomicon." It's a big horror-palooza of hilarity, perfect for Halloween!

If you love vintage macabre-ana, this show is for you. The historic event will be held Saturday, October 17th, 2015. Doors open at 6:30pm, and it's gonna get weird. All attendees must be 21 years of age or older. Costumes are mandatory. What is Theatre Bizarre? It's part traveling medicine show, part Mardi Gras, part carnival, part circus freak show, part masquerade and all party! Guest don't just watch, they interact with fire-eaters, burlesque performers and musical acts. It's held in the historic old Masonic Temple (the largest in the world), a perfect gothic-creepy venue. Who better for a Halloween themed show than the Grateful Dead? The Dead Again, of course! Dead-heads, zombie-walk on over to Ferndale's Magic Bag for a Grateful Dead revival. The tribute band covers old Grateful Dead jams on Saturday, October 24. Join the dearly departed for a Halloween bash. Doors open at 8p.m., and tickets are $12 in advance.

Want a fright night music fest of especially evil proportions? Motor your hearse to The Fillmore for the masters of monstrous mayhem, Insane Clown Posse. Get totally spooked by P.O.D., Stitches, Dope D.O.D. and Young Wicked. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. on All Hallows Eve, October 31. Tickets are $25 to $45 and are available at Live Nation.

The historic--and fully restored--Redford Theatre gives itself up to Halloween haunts of the Hitchcock variety all through the month of October. Classic films are shown weekends: most Friday and Saturday shows start at 8 p.m., and on Sunday's there's usually a 7 p.m. show and a 2 p.m. matinee (just like the good old days). There's a creepy Metropolis Silent Film Fest on October 2. Other movies include Night of the Hunter, The Birds, Dessert, Marnie and Young Frankenstein. There's also two-weekends shows of The Ghoul Hosts Godzilla Fest, featuring all those funky old-school Japanese Godzilla flicks. All shows are preceded by a concert on the fabulous 1920s Barton theater organ. Tickets are $5 to $7 at the door.
