Planet Rock Climbing Gym is where it's at for the ultimate indoor rock climbing experience. This climbing gym and training center invites Individuals and kids ages five and up to scale the wall. Expert climbers offer classes to groups, including lead lessons and numerous special programs for kids. The indoor climbing wall at Ford Community and Performing Arts Center is custom-designed. The realistic surface is suited for everyone from novice to skilled climbers. The expansive wall features endurance routes, a sustained ten to fifteen degree overhang and is full of arêtes and dihedrals for more advanced rock climbers. The facility is open to climbers ages six and older, and adult supervision is required for those under thirteen years of age. Kids and pre-teens should check out the special "Youth Rock Climbing Wall Program," where kids can meet up with their friends or spark new friendships within the group. This is a great opportunity to combine fitness with a fun social activity.

The facility at Wayne State University Recreation and Fitness Center houses a 30 foot climbing wall. Climbers can boulder, rope and lead climb. There is an array of routes to choose from, designated by color to keep climbers on the right track. The wall itself is designed to mimic the outdoor experience of a real rock formation found in nature. Paths are suited for all skill levels. Please note that climbers must pass a belay check prior to using the indoor climbing wall.

The Livonia Community Recreation Center has one massive rock wall and thirteen climbing stations. The complex is open to adults and children; families are also welcome. Climbers won't get bored because there are various routes. The many paths add interest to the climb and create additional challenges once the simpler routes are mastered. Staff is there to ensure the safety of visitors to the climbing wall. You can also sign up for a class taught by one of the experts on the team. Check out the Rec Center on Fridays, when the facility hosts a "Rock Wall Climbing Social" and all climbs are $3 for as many people as you care to bring.

Reach heights of up to 22 feet high at the University of Michigan's MRock indoor rock climbing tower. Try your hand at a challenging rope climb or get a grip while bouldering at the facility's new wall. The university offers individuals and groups rope classes and bouldering lessons. MRock is open to university faculty, students and the public.
