Love Mitch Albom’s books and Gail Martin’s novels are tender and uplifting. Another great Detroit-area author is Jill Eileen Smith, who writes wonderful biblical fiction.

Elmore Leonard is an amazing author. I’ve read every book he has written. Gary Graff is an intelligent columnist and critic. Mitch Albom is now and always will be a scab. Through his actions, he caused many people (including Gary Graff) to lose their jobs while he profitted from their pain.

Agree that Elmore Leonard is an amazing author. He, like Raymond Chandler before him, shows that the great American novel rises from “the real” via crime fiction, not from “above” via the the literary ivory tower novelists. Chandler & Leonard will be read when the “pipe & elbow-patch” authors have been forgotten.
