Based in New Hudson, with new digs in Detroit's Tech Town - as part of an Automation Alley accelerator program - IMA Cosmetics is taking the world by storm. Founded by Julie Bartholomew, her approach to cosmetics was innovative: she worked with engineers to develop a machine that produces customized make-up for shoppers at high-end department stores, including Fred Segal, Nordstrom and Barneys. Pairing science with beauty allows customers to customize their own make-up, including specialized colors, flavors and finishes.
