Thanksgiving is quickly arriving and this guide to find turkeys for the holiday season is just in time. Founded in 1928 by George Peacock, the business is still family run now by grandson, Gerald. At one time, all animals were raised and packaged on the farm but growing demand meant needing more resources. Since 1970, the company works alongside Amish farmers in Indiana to provide high-quality turkeys, chicken, ducks and beef without chemicals. The storefront also has a wide selection of organic and ready-to-eat meals. Various Amish products such as maple syrup and butter both salted and unsalted can be ordered and should be placed the week before it's needed. Items desired not on their list of specialty products can also be ordered by calling and speaking with the fifth generation staff.

Since 1948, Italian family Roperti's has been serving the area with fresh turkeys. Staff are properly trained for cleanliness and processing of the birds while the turkeys themselves are raised without additives. They are kept in a natural environment so that means they are not caged or have restrictive movement. That alone makes a difference in raising healthy turkeys for the season. The turkeys are not Amish but are corn and whole grain fed. The website also features recipes for both the day of Thanksgiving and the leftovers that usually come with a dinner.
