The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham is known for its European charm and the Rugby Grille is recognized nationwide for its great food. On Valentine’s Day, the Grille is offering a prix fixe four-course meal that will challenge and delight anyone’s taste buds. The dinner begins with a choice of tempura boquerones or ahi tartare and continues with a lobster bisque or salad Lyonnaise. Next is the main course of grilled Wagyu short ribs or pan roasted bronzino. Dessert offers a taste of chocolate dacquoise. The price is $90 per person and for those who cannot make it to out on Valentine’s Day, the dinner will be offered on Saturday and Sunday as well. Reservations are a must.

If you are looking for a special meal, great wine and a celebration the day before Valentine’s Day, head to Joe Vicari’s where the special Valentine’s Culinary & Liquid Treats event will be hosted. For $65 per person, there will be foie gras, kale insalata, chicken with an espresso and plum sauce, Bison meatballs and for dessert, assorted chocolate truffles. With each plate there will be an accompanying wine matched to enhance the flavor of the foods and the wine itself, including a wonderful dessert wine. This is an event not to be missed anytime, but for an early Valentine’s Day dinner, it does not get much better.

If a little gambling and dinner are on tap for Valentine’s Day, head down to the MGM Grand Detroit where special, yet very different fixed priced meals are being offered at two of the restaurants: Wolfgang Puck Steak and Palette Dining Studio.
Wolfgang Puck Steak at MGM Grand
What you will find when you take part in the prix fixe meal for Valentine’s Day at Wolfgang Puck is a three-course meal that offers tastes that are simply stunning. Beginning with either a lobster and crab bisque or steakhouse chopped salad, you then move on to the entree of a grilled rib eye steak with cognac-mustard sauce or grill Atlantic salmon with a lemon, tarragon and lobster sauce. Along with this will be side dishes served family style and finishing up the meal will be a warm chocolate truffle cake with Chantilly cream.
Palette Dining Studio at MGM Grand
The Palette Dining Studio offers an “all you care to eat” presentation on Valentine’s Day that will offer eats that go well beyond the normal offerings. There will be prime rib and shrimp offered three ways along with shrimp scampi served on linguini. Then there is the fresh shrimp Caesar, cold poached shrimp, marinated Cajun shrimp and far east cashew shrimp. Next it’s time to head back again for the prime rib or whatever you crave. As always, there will be a large variety of desserts and other accompaniments to go along with the meal.
