One of the biggest parties each year in Detroit is the Movement Electronic Music Festival, held each May in the heart of the Motor City. The Movement festival is the most well-known and famous EDM and Techno music festival around the world. With Detroit being the birthplace of electronic music, it only makes sense that the city has created one of the biggest EDM spring festivals of all time. Thousands upon thousands of people will join hundreds of artists for the massive party in Hart Plaza over the last weekend of May. It was also recently announced that legendary electronic band Kraftwerk will headline the show, so it will certainly be one to see. Known worldwide as the famous annual "Hash Bash," the Monroe Street Fair & Hash Bash takes place each year in Ann Arbor and has done so for decades. Ann Arbor has long been one of the most progressive cities when it comes to stances on marijuana use and legalization. Though the drug is not currently legal for open public use for non-medicinal reasons, many young and old alike still gather to look at artful creations, enjoy to local bands and listen to celebrities and social speakers talk about what they believe makes pot so great.

Date: June 5-6, 2016 at 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

This year, one of the most popular festivals in all of Detroit is moving to its new home. The Downtown Hoedown, formerly held for the past few years at Ford Field, and before that Hart Plaza, will now be relocating to the brand new park on Detroit's beautiful river, the West Riverfront Park. The park is also home to the Mo Pop Festival, which also hosted its first-ever show at the new park back in 2015 to much acclaim, despite the bad weather. This year's Downtown Hoedown will feature some of the same country music artists that fans loved before, such as A Thousand Horses, but will also feature a host of new and big name top country artists, as well! The outdoor setting of the park near the Detroit River is an ideal place for a country music festival, so we predict that fans will take quite kindly to this new location. Tickets are on sale now for $35 each or at the door the day of the festival for $40.
