Best Upcoming Expos And Conventions Near Detroit

As chillier days drive folks indoors, late fall is the perfect time to go expo-loring! Check out these conventions and expos in and around Metro Detroit. These events aren't industry-specific and are open to the general public. Most are free admission. Check out the gamut of conventions from locally-grown products from comic books to small business to pets!

Did you miss Motor City Comic Con and can't wait till next May? Well, you don't have to! Come on down to X-Travacon to get your comic book and toy fill. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 22 and Dec. 27. Motor City Conventions hosts Michigan's largest comic book and pop culture convention and this is an offshoot. Dealer tables cost $60 in advance and $65 at the show.

Looking for something (really, really) different, job-wise? If you're tired of working for someone else and long to be your own boss, maybe opening a franchise is for you. Representatives from many franchises will be at the Suburban Collection Place to explain marketing career opportunities their parent companies offer. The Franchise Expo is featured in 26 major U.S. cities and has helped loads of people connect with franchises and realize their small business dreams. Event dates are Friday, October 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, October 31 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $6 online, $8 at the door and parking is $5 per vehicle.

If you love your pets, then run, hop, slither or swim to the Novi Pet Expo. This great big animal lolapalooza features animal exhibitions, a pet show, pet food distributors, groomers, humane society reps, freebies and fun galore! Cost is $10 for adults and children 12 and up. Kids ages 6-11 are $5, and children five and under free. Senior Day for 55+ is Friday, Nov. 20 and admission is $5. The event runs Friday, Nov. 20 from noon to 8 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check the website to print a $2 off coupon.

It runs Friday, Nov. 27 (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.), Saturday, Nov. 28 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Sunday, Nov. 29 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Explore alternatives from massage to feng shui, essential oils to tarot readings. Vendors may sign up for free half-hour demonstration slots on stage.

This event is just what the name implies: a day to celebrate products made in, grown in or produced in Michigan. The event goes Friday and Saturday, December 11 and 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Come taste Michigan foods, explore Michigan products and celebrate the many natural resources the Mitten State has to offer.
