When you say the words "spring break," the first thought that pops into your head might not be one concerning Detroit, or even anywhere remotely close to Detroit. But in reality, Detroit offers locals and tourists some of the best options for making the best out of their spring break each year, with plenty of fun and affordable options to choose from. The weather is finally clearing up so here are the best ways to make the most of it in the Motor City.

What could possibly beat a long, cold winter better than a trip out to the ballpark for the first game of the season? The Detroit Tigers, still riding their incredible success after the last few seasons, are gearing up for another run at the World Series in 2015. The four-time American League Champions open the season against conference rivals, the Minnesota Twins, and no matter what the weather is like, you can bet this is the greatest way to start spring in Detroit.

But for all of those working in education, the DIA is opening its doors for a special event this spring break to give a preview of this fantastic new exhibit before it opens to the public. Light refreshments and snacks will be served. Admission is free for residents of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties and all other educators may sign up for a DIA Educator Pass to receive free general admission to the museum. Pre-registration for this event is required.
