Cozy up in a candlelit booth with your honey or grab a table and share a bottle of wine with that special lady. Here are some of the top restaurants for Valentines Day in Detroit, as picked by the Detroit Tour Lady, Linda Yellin for CBSDetroit.com.
The Hudson Cafe
1241 Woodward Ave.
Located near the spot of the old Hudson’s department store, the cafe has floor to ceiling windows and the Maurice salad that was created by the store. “Everything is delicious,” said Yellin. Absolutely everything. The salads, their special stuffed French Toast.”
Le Petit Zinc
1055 Trumbell, Corktown
“It’s a funky little cafe,” said Yellin, with authentic Paris cuisine and atmosphere. Her favorite dish is the chicken ratatoille sandwich. “It’s like a stew with chicken in it on a baguette and it’s delicious.”
La Dolce Vita
1756 Woodward Avenue
“It is romantic, it’s lovely,” said Yellin. “It is a gem in the rough … It’s upscale, white tablecloths, very interesting lovely food. And many people don’t know about it. Serving American and European food and liquor.
311 East Grand River, Paradise Valley
The restaurant located in the Carr Building in Paradise Valley is a former Speakeasy. Yellin say it’s a great pick for the socially conscious. “It supports training for [restaurant workers] people looking to get that foot up, as well as buying local and from reputable farmers.”
The Sunday Dinner Company
6470 East Jefferson Ave.
This restaurant also trains workers to enter the restaurant industry. Yellin said it’s great for those who love soul food. “Big meal. Fried chicken, catfish, mac and cheese. Oh yeah…it’s good.”
