Books In The House Makes A Difference

How many books do you have for your child around the house? This might be a good time to count them, because the number can make a difference.

Research that compared families across the globe has shown that families with 500 or more books in the home have children who stay in school longer, and complete college at a higher rate.

Locally, groups such as the Washtenaw Literacy Coalition and Success By 6 have devised a project to help families who can not afford to buy children's books.

The Washtenaw Literacy Coalition sends a children's book each month to families in the 48197 and 48198 zip codes. For more information, click here.
