Report: Doc Misdiagnosed Hundreds To Boost Pay
Dearborn (WWJ) -- Some shocking allegations against a local doctor this morning.
A lawsuit has been filed claiming that Yassar Awaad -- a doctor at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn -- falsely diagnosed hundreds of local children with epilepsy.
According to a report in the Detroit Free Press, the suit alleges that Awaad made the false diagnoses to raise his pay at Oakwood Hospital, which tied his earnings to the procedures he did. Oakwood Hospital denies the charges.
Tuesday, attorneys will ask a judge for permission to conduct dozens of additional interviews, including those of senior Oakwood officials.
