Michigan Marine Killed In Afghanistan

The Pentagon says a 22-year-old Marine from Traverse City was killed by an improvised explosive device while he was on foot patrol in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan.

Corporal Paul Miller was assigned to the 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion. Miller had served a tour in Iraq before his deployment in Afghanistan. The Defense Department confirmed his death Wednesday.

Miller was the only Marine killed in Monday's explosion.

He graduated in 2006 from Benzie Central High School and had enlisted in the Marines by that October.

Miller leaves behind a wife. The couple didn't have any children.
