Most Stolen Vehicle: Cadillac Escalade
The Cadillac Escalade SUV has a distinction most owners would rather do without. It's the number one target of auto thieves.
Other vehicles on the "most wanted list" include the Ford F-250 crew cab pickup, the Infiniti G37 two-door, the Hemi-powered Dodge Charger, and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
A spokesperson with the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) says despite the popularity of family cars and "fuel sippers," such as the Toyota Prius, thieves tend to go after vehicles with chrome, horsepower and HEMI engines.
The HLDI also says big work trucks like the Ford F-250/350, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and Dodge Ram 2500 are attractive not only because of the vehicles themselves but also because of the tools and cargo they carry.
