Search On For Oxford Man, Son

Divers in the Upper Peninsula have continued recovery efforts for a 50-year-old Oxford man and his 16-year-old son who were swept away by strong currents.

Michigan State Police say both victims were swimming about 6 p.m. Thursday with the man's 23-year-old daughter in Grand Marais Harbor in Alger County's Burt Township. A rip current pulled all three from shore and separated the woman from the other two.

Police said the woman was able to break free of the current, noticed her father and brother were in distress but was unable to reach them because of the current and waves.

Both swimmers were submerged by the time she swam to shore and called for help.

None of the swimmers have been identified.

No further details were released.
